A significant majority of voters want President Biden and former President Donald Trump tested for drugs for the upcoming presidential debates, according to a recent DailyMail.com/TIPP survey.

The poll reveals that 70% of respondents believe both candidates should undergo pharmaceutical screening before they face off on June 27 and Sept. 10.

The survey shows that 18% of people think drug tests are unnecessary, while 12% are unsure. The topic has gained traction following allegations by Mr. Trump, the presumptive GOP nominee, who claimed without evidence that Mr. Biden was under the influence of something during his State of the Union address in March.

Mr. Biden, at 81 the oldest president in history, has often been criticized for verbal missteps and occasional physical stumbles at public events. Earlier this year, a report by special counsel Robert Hur described the president as a “well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”

White House officials said Mr. Biden’s State of the Union speech was energetic and was proof of his capacity to serve another term. Critics, however, speculated that the president may have used stimulants like Adderall to maintain his energy during the hourlong address.

Official White House medical records counter these claims, showing that Mr. Biden only takes common medications for allergies, heartburn, and blood clot prevention.

While Mr. Biden’s energy level continues to be a point of scrutiny, Mr. Trump, who will turn 78 next week, also faces questions about his suitability for another term in office. Critics highlight his often rambling and incoherent speeches and appearances as evidence of his own potential age-related issues.
