The labor union for Border Patrol agents issued a correction to President Biden on Thursday night, saying they have never endorsed him.
The response came after the president, in his first 2024 debate with former President Donald Trump, suggested the National Border Patrol Council had endorsed both himself and legislation he had urged Congress to pass.
The NBPC did urge senators to take up the bill, but it said the claims of endorsing Mr. Biden are wrong.
“To be clear, we never have and never will endorse Biden,” the union said on social media platform X.
Mr. Trump punctuated that notion, pointing out that the NBPC did endorse him.
