The energy at London Stadium was electric as Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, 55, took the stage on Saturday.

However, it wasn’t just his performance that got people talking. Mr. Grohl stirred up a bit of controversy when he seemed to suggest that Taylor Swift, who was performing at nearby Wembley Stadium on the second night of the three-day show on her Eras Tour, doesn’t play live during her shows.

Mr. Grohl, addressing the crowd, made a pointed reference to Swift’s concert happening across town. “I tell you, man, you don’t want to suffer the wrath of Taylor Swift,” he said.

He went on to describe the Foo Fighters’ tour, playfully dubbing it the “Errors Tour.” “We’ve had more than a few eras and more than a few f—-ing errors as well. Just a couple,” he said with a grin. “That’s because we actually play live. What? Just saying. You guys like raw, live rock ’n’ roll music, right? You came to the right f—-ing place.”

Ms. Swift seemed to respond to Mr. Grohl’s comments less than 24 hours later during her show. On the final night of her sold-out tour stop, Ms. Swift gave a special shout-out to her band and crew, emphasizing their live performance.

“Every one of my band members, every single one of our crew, my band — who’s gonna’ be playing live for you for three and a half hours tonight — they deserve this so much,” Ms. Swift told the 80,000-strong crowd. “And so does every one of my fellow performers. And you just gave that to us so generously, we will never forget it.”

While she didn’t mention Mr. Grohl by name, fans were quick to connect her emphasis on “playing live” to Ms. Grohl’s remarks. Social media buzzed with speculation and commentary, showcasing the passionate responses from both Foo Fighters and Taylor Swift fans.
