According to a new analysis of National Labor Relations Board data, U.S. workers are winning union elections at record-high rates.

The NLRB information shows that U.S. unions have won 73.8% of elections held in 2024, skyrocketing from 62.7% in 2008.

The number of union elections has also increased, with union certification votes rising from 993 in 2020 to 1,777 in 2023.

The analysis suggests this is the result of a pro-labor NLRB, which has dramatically increased its regulatory activity since the start of the Biden administration in 2021.

Over the past three years, the NLRB has repeatedly ruled in favor of union organizers and pro-union employees and has made it easier for employees to launch a union campaign by cutting the required time between petitioning and voting.

These updates in policy have led to landmark union drives and victories at Starbucks, Amazon and Trader Joe’s. Additionally, unions on university campuses have expanded under the current NLRB leadership, with even the first athletics union at Dartmouth College.
