Dave Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports, revealed he received treatment for skin cancer and won.

On an episode of Barstool’s “The Dozen Trivia League” streamed Wednesday, Mr. Portnoy, 47, appeared with a bandage on his neck and said, “This is all that matters. We’ve been waiting for all season. I have cancer, by the way. No big deal.”

Mr. Portnoy elaborated on “The BFFs Pod,” saying he sought medical advice on a mole after repeatedly going out in the sun without using sunblock and that doctors found the mark was cancerous.

He said he had some skin scraped, which necessitated stitches, but he didn’t say whether he needed other treatment.

The treatment kept Mr. Portnoy, an avowed Boston sports fan, away from the Celtics’ home victory Monday to clinch their record 18th NBA title.

He wrote on X, “I did have cancer. I beat it. It wasn’t the serious kind, thank God.”
