Fleetwood Mac, one of rock music’s most iconic bands, has officially ended its run.

The band’s decision comes after the unexpected death of longtime member Christine McVie in 2022. McVie, who had played a crucial role as a singer and keyboardist, passed away at the age of 79.

Stevie Nicks, another key member of the band, has confirmed that Fleetwood Mac will not continue without Ms. McVie.

In a recent interview, Ms. Nicks told Mojo magazine, “Without Christine, no can do. There is no chance of putting Fleetwood Mac back together in any way. Without her, it just couldn’t work.”

In 2018, Fleetwood Mac made headlines when they fired lead guitarist Lindsey Buckingham, a longtime co-leader of the band. Mr. Buckingham later opened up about the situation, attributing the decision to Ms. Nicks’ need for a certain kind of attention and her reluctance to compete with his energy.

In her interview, Ms. Nicks made it clear that even if Mr. Buckingham were to return, Fleetwood Mac would still be unable to continue.

“Even if I thought I could work with Lindsey again, he’s had some health problems,” she said, referring to Mr. Buckingham’s open heart surgery in 2019.

She added that the demanding nature of Fleetwood Mac’s tours, which can last up to a year and a half, would be too much for Mr. Buckingham to handle in his current state.
