“Israel weighs a two-front war as Hezbollah escalates attacks” (web, June 11) lays it all out: While the Biden administration is pushing for a cease-fire with Hamas in Gaza, it is also urging “restraint” by Israel against Hezbollah in the Jewish state’s north.

According to The Washington Times, Hezbollah “has been heavily armed by Iran with 150,000 precision-guided rockets and missiles, as well as with sophisticated drones and antitank weaponry.”

And of course Hezbollah, like Hamas, has been totally unrestrained in its attacks on Israeli towns, settlements and people.

President Biden et al. have given tacit permission to Israel’s enemies to wreak havoc at will — but they’ve denied Israel’s right to defend itself. Why? If Mr. Biden doesn’t know the facts of the matter, he should: The publicly stated aim of both Hamas and Hezbollah (and also, of course, Iran) is to utterly destroy Israel and the Jewish people, and when that is accomplished, to destroy the U.S. and dominate the entire world under an Islamic caliphate.

These fanatics can’t be appeased, bought off, or converted to Christianity or Buddhism. It’s time for our government to act as though it understood reality.
