Democrats are plowing ahead with plans to drive a fleet of 57 buses, which include vehicles wrapped with President Biden’s face as “Dark Brandon,” around the Republican National Convention next week in Milwaukee.

Democratic lawmakers in Washington are still wrestling with the prospect of Mr. Biden remaining at the top of their ticket in November as he steadfastly refuses to withdraw from the race.

Despite these troubles, the Democratic National Committee is proceeding with counter-programing for the GOP convention. The Democrats have seven new campaign bus wraps that will run on 57 buses around the city during the convention.

Democrats say they will remind voters that Mr. Biden “is fighting for them as Trump and extreme Republicans prepare to descend on the city — which Donald Trump described as ‘horrible,’” a reference to a comment Mr. Trump made at a GOP meeting with lawmakers in Washington.

Mr. Trump and other Republicans said the remark was taken out of context when it was leaked to reporters and that he “loved” Milwaukee.

DNC Communications Director Rosemary Boeglin said in a statement that there is just one candidate who will protect “democracy” and “protections for fundamental freedoms, health care, affordable prescription drugs, and good-paying jobs.”

“Ahead of the Republican National Convention, Democrats are making sure that Wisconsinites and all Americans understand that if Trump wins, America loses,” she said. “President Biden has Americans’ backs, and we’ll have his when we send him back to the Oval Office for four more years this November.”

The statement came just hours after the RNC released a Trump-inspired party platform that omits its previous embrace of a pro-life amendment to the Constitution and a federal abortion ban after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

The DNC said the platform language “was the most extreme, out-of-touch, and dangerous proposals in his MAGA platform that would let him fulfill his pledge to be a dictator on ‘day one.’”
