Wednesday was an off day for the Washington Commanders’ players, but the front office stayed busy.

The team released wide receivers Dax Milne and Damiere Byrd, signed wide receiver Byron Pringle and claimed kicker Riley Patterson off waivers.

Pringle returns to the Commanders after appearing in 17 games with the team last season. He made his primary impact on special teams.

After the Jaguars waived Patterson on Monday, the veteran will likely compete for the starting kicking job for the Commanders. Ramiz Ahmed was previously the only kicker on Washington’s roster, but he was inconsistent through the first week of training camp.

Byrd joined the Commanders in the offseason after bouncing around several practice squads in recent years. He saw limited playing time during training camp.

Milne was a seventh-round pick for Washington in 2021. The BYU product was the squad’s primary punt returner in 2022, but a groin injury sidelined him for the 2023 campaign.
