Former President Donald Trump plans to make a triumphant return to the Pennsylvania town where he survived an assassination attempt earlier this month.

Mr. Trump announced Friday he is headed back to Butler to celebrate the life of Corey Comperatore, the volunteer firefighter who was killed after he shielded his wife and daughter from the gunman’s bullets at a Trump rally on July 13.

“I WILL BE GOING BACK TO BUTLER, PENNSYLVANIA, FOR A BIG AND BEAUTIFUL RALLY, HONORING THE SOUL OF OUR BELOVED FIREFIGHTING HERO, COREY, AND THOSE BRAVE PATRIOTS INJURED TWO WEEKS AGO,” Mr. Trump said on Truth Social. “WHAT A DAY IT WILL BE — FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT! STAY TUNED FOR DETAILS.”

Mr. Trump’s rally at Butler Farm Show took a horrific turn after the sound of gunfire rang out, sending the former president to the ground as Secret Service agents rushed to his aid.

In the immediate aftermath, Mr. Trump emerged with a bloodied ear, raised his fist and urged the crowd to “Fight! Fight! Fight!”

Mr. Comparatore died after a bullet directed at Mr. Trump hit him.

Two other rallygoers were shot but survived, including David Dutch, who was released from the hospital Wednesday, according to ABC News. The other survivor remains hospitalized.

At the Republican National Convention, Mr. Trump paid tribute to Mr. Comparatore.

A mannequin sporting his fire jacket and helmet was rolled out on stage, and the Republican nominee kissed the helmet.
