Former President Donald Trump will reportedly abandon any future jumbo-sized outdoor rallies like the one at which he was nearly assassinated earlier this month.
According to a report by NBC News, Mr. Trump will hold future rallies indoors or perhaps outdoor stadiums where entrances and exits are few and high ground is not a concern.
The network cited “two sources familiar with his campaign’s operations.”
The Washington Post had reported earlier Tuesday that the Secret Service had requested that Mr. Trump hold no more outdoor rallies.
The NBC News report came hours after Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned following the catastrophic security failures at Mr. Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Among other failures, the Trump campaign team had said the Secret Service had denied some of its security requests. The Secret Service confirmed that this was true on some occasions, but not the Pennsylvania rally at which an assassin killed a Trump supporter and came with a quarter-inch of killing the former president.
The rally took place in an open field and the Secret Service did not secure some buildings that offered a line of sight on the stage at which Mr. Trump was speaking.
