Hundreds and hundreds of migrants wound their way from Mexico’s southernmost border to America over the weekend, hoping to take advantage of Joe Biden’s welcome mat before Donald Trump becomes president.

No surprise there. Biden’s been letting them in all along; they know the next administration — Trump’s — won’t be so kind.

Make way for the lame-duck caravan.

“We are running the risk that permits [to cross the border into America] might be blocked,” said Miguel Salazar, an El Salvador resident who told The Associated Press that the CBP One app currently granting asylum-seekers the ability to enter the United States might be shuttered by Trump.

Is there any better gauge about which politician — which party — which presidential pick — is better for controlling borders and surges at the border than hearing from the would-be illegals themselves?

“Migrant at U.S.-Mexico border wears Biden-Harris shirt,” Fox News wrote in 2024.

“Illegal migrants wearing ‘Joe Biden T-shirts’ line up at Mexican border,” Sky News Australia wrote as a headline to a video in 2021.

“Biden Vows to Dismantle Trump’s Immigration Policies,” NPR wrote in 2020 — and that he did.

Since taking over the White House, it’s been open border, open border, open border, all day, all night, all year. As CNN noted in March, “Joe Biden promised to ‘absorb’ 2 million asylum seekers ‘in a heart’ in 2019 — he now faces an immigration crisis.”

True dat.

He put the halt on deportations. He sent the word out far and wide of the sanctuary status of cities in Democrat strongholds. He let in millions of illegals — record level numbers of illegals — so many record level numbers of illegals even the left-leaning, Biden-fawning press couldn’t ignore it.

“How the Border Crisis Shattered Biden’s Immigration Hopes,” one New York Times headline ran in January.

“Our immigration crisis just keeps getting worse,” one Hill headline ran in April.

“Biden boxed in on all sides by historic immigration crisis,” one Axios headline ran in February.

“Biden is facing a monumental crisis as unlawful border crossings spike and migrants arrive in crowded cities with no jobs or places to sleep,” NBC News wrote in December.

The common theme? Crisis. Borders, under Biden, have been turned into crises to control — or not, as Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas views it. Make no mistake: The reason so many Republicans in Congress have called for Biden’s impeachment and Mayorkas’ impeachment is due partly to their failures to uphold controls at the border — and partly to their attacks on states that have tried to step in and control the borders themselves. Think January, when this White House’s Justice Department sued Texas over its duly passed immigration law giving local law enforcement the power to arrest illegals. It’s one thing to turn a blind eye to law and order. It’s another thing entirely to demand everyone else turn blind eyes to law and order, as well. That’s evil times 10.

From AP, just this week: “Hundreds of migrants from around a dozen countries left from Mexico’s southern border on foot Sunday, as they attempt to make it to the U.S. border. Some of the members of the group said they hoped to make it to the U.S. border before elections are held in November, because they fear that if Donald Trump wins, he will follow through on a promise to close the border to asylum-seekers.”

Yes. Word’s out. Jig’s up. Biden’s open door is closing. And all the illegals go: Run! They’re racing to beat the elections; they’re racing to beat it to America before Trump wins and shuts down passage to illegal crossings. This is the legacy Biden is leaving America: a broken border exploited by caravans of illegals.

“To keep our families safe, the Republican platform promises to launch the largest deportation operation in the history of our country,” Trump said at the Republican convention in Milwaukee.

That’s the only way to undo the damage Biden has caused. Deport, deport, deport. A restoration of law and order at the border is the number one priority for the next Trump administration.
