An ATV driver in Michigan targeted a supporter of former President Donald Trump by ramming into the elderly man as he put up a pro-Trump yard sign.

The attack was part of a politically motivated rampage that ended with the suspect’s apparent suicide.

Hancock police in the state’s Upper Peninsula said the suspect also specifically vandalized two vehicles for displaying pro-police stickers and flags.

According to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, a 22-year-old suspect called the city’s police saying he’d be at an address in Quincy Township, wanted to confess to the rampage, and asked that the Office “send someone to pick me up.”

When Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived at the scene, the suspect was already dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, officials said.

Authorities said that the 80-year-old victim of the yard sign attack, which happened around 5:45 p.m. Sunday, was rushed to a hospital and remained in critical condition Monday.

Police did not publicly name the suspect, even after he was found dead.

They did, however, say they found the four-wheel vehicle and clothing seen on the driver in surveillance footage. Law enforcement officials also have the suspect’s electronic devices, which investigators will examine to determine motive.
