My heart goes out to Vice President Kamala Harris for taking the helm of what appears to be a sinking ship (“Harris starts vetting vice presidential candidates,” web, July 23). If the results in November do not turn out in the Democrats’ favor, Ms. Harris, the perfect patsy, will be blamed. The liberal media argument will be that gender and race — not performance or policy — are the reason for the loss.

They are already playing their dog-eared race card, which means that once again the Democratic National Committee is more worried about optics than substance. If the DNC were 100% behind Ms. Harris ,President Biden would announce at the convention that he was stepping down as president so Ms. Harris would have three months to prove herself to voters.

Ms. Harris should be trying to reverse the public perception of herself as a difficult person, since nearly 30 staffers have quit her office, and address how she will ensure less attrition if she becomes president. How is she going to distinguish herself from the Kamala Harris that ran in 2020?

We hear frequently about the importance of the African American female voter, but few Democrats mention the African American male voter. So that’s what the DNC thinks of African American men! Once again, we’re witnessing blind support for the left.

Former President Donald Trump said last week that it doesn’t matter who the Democrats put up for president; this race is about the policies, not the person. The DNC’s continued denial and failed policies (and the left-wing media outlets’ help in all of it) will prove too much for Ms. Harris to overcome.
