Just minutes after President Biden dropped out of the presidential race, former President Donald Trump attacked him for being the “worst president” ever.

“He is the worst president in the history of our country. He goes down as the single worst president by far in the history of our country,” Mr. Trump told CNN’s Kaitlan Collins on Sunday.

He also said that Vice President Kamala Harris will be easier to beat than Mr. Biden if she is made the Democratic nominee.

It is still unclear who the Democratic nominee will be after Mr. Biden announced he was dropping out of the race Sunday after weeks of calls to do so from Democratic lawmakers, donors and activists following his dismal debate performance in June.

Shortly after he dropped out in a letter posted on X, Mr. Biden endorsed his vice president to replace him as the party nominee.

“My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made,” Mr. Biden said. “Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.”

After his CNN interview, Mr. Trump took to social media to continue bashing Mr. Biden’s presidency, saying he “never was” fit for office and “only attained the position of President by lies, Fake News, and not leaving his basement.”

In his Truth Social post, the former president also accused those around Mr. Biden of covering up his infirmity until his polling numbers took a nosedive following the debate.

“All those around him, including his Doctor and the Media, knew that he wasn’t capable of being President, and he wasn’t,” Mr. Trump wrote.
