MILWAUKEE — Let me tell you something, brother: Hulkamania is about to run wild at the Republican National Convention.
Legendary wrestler Hulk Hogan, months after being baptized Christian, is set to address delegates on Thursday’s final day of the convention and warm up the crowd for former President Donald Trump, who made some pro wrestling cameos, including during a Battle of the Billionaires at WrestleMania 23 in 2007 in Detroit.
The Hulkster is part of a final lineup of speakers that includes Dana White, CEO of the UFC, and Linda McMahon, administrator of the Small Business Administration in the Trump White House and former head of World Wrestling Entertainment.
The Hulk, whose real name is Terry Bollea, remains the most famous wrestler ever to suit up and starred in iconic rivalries with “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, “Macho Man” Randy Savage, Andre the Giant and The Iron Sheik.
The 70-year-old Hulk popularized the sport with his charismatic persona, fabled leg drop, “24-inch python” biceps and for sending his fans into a frenzy with a walkout that included musician Rick Derringer’s song “Real American.”
“I am a real American,” the lyrics say. “Fight for the rights of every man. I am a real American. Fight for what’s right! Fight for your life!”
