House Democrats on Wednesday said they shattered their fundraising benchmark in the second quarter of an election year and passed Republicans with cash for the House race.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee raked in $44 million during April, May and June, a record amount for the party’s money arm.
“Leader [Hakeem] Jeffries and House Democrats are standing up to defend the rights and freedoms for all, while staying focused on creating economic opportunity for everyone,” said DCCC Chairwoman Suzan DelBene, Washington Democrat.
“That’s why the American people are putting their support behind us and helping us set records along the way,” she continued. “With their help, we will have the resources and momentum to retake the majority in November — and to get the People’s House back to work.”
A large portion of the eye-popping haul came in June, when the campaign committee raised $19.7 million. That figure is $5.4 million more than the National Republican Congressional Committee’s record-breaking fundraising total the same month.
The DCCC has raised $210.8 million this election cycle and has $87.9 million cash on hand — $17.9 million more available money than Republicans.
The latest fundraising news from Democrats continues the trend of the DCCC outraising the NRCC. The Democratic organization bested Republicans in the first quarter of this year, outraising them by $12 million.
The record-breaking haul comes as Democrats face uncertainty in November with President Biden at the top of the ticket. Some Democratic lawmakers want him to step aside after his incoherent debate showing last month, and Democratic voters have become increasingly vocal that he must go.
