MSNBC host Joe Scarborough, whose “Morning Joe” show was pulled by network executives in the wake of the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, said Tuesday that his bosses can “get somebody else to host this show” if he’s bumped off the air again.
Mr. Scarborough said on his show Tuesday that he and co-host Mika Brzezinski “were very surprised, we were very disappointed” by how the network kept them off the air on Monday morning, two days after Mr. Trump survived the assassination attempt.
CNN reported that the progressive show was pulled “to prevent one of its dozens of guests from making an inappropriate comment [about the Trump shooting] while live that could paint the show and network in a bad light.”
Mr. Scarborough suggested that network executives lied to him.
“We were told, in no uncertain terms on a Sunday evening that there was going to be one news feed across all NBC news channels [on Monday]. … That did not happen. … And if we had known that there wasn’t going to be the one news feed, from NBC news across all NBC news channels, … we obviously would have been in [Monday] morning.”
The network had said it made its decision in collaboration with the hosts of “Morning Joe.”
But Mr. Scarborough said Tuesday, “Next time we’re told there’s going to be a news feed replacing us, we will be in our chairs. And the news feed will be us, or they can get somebody else to host this show.”
