The Republican National Convention’s second day is in full swing — now with Donald Trump officially as its presidential nominee and U.S. Sen. JD Vance of Ohio as his running mate.

House Majority Leader Rep. Steve Scalise said he is a survivor of a politically-motivated shooting in 2017 and not many know that while he was fighting for his life, Donald Trump was one of the first to come to console his family at the hospital.

“That’s the kind of leader he is. Courageous under fire, compassionate towards others,” said Scalise.

More speakers are expected Tuesday to mention what they described as the former president’s strength and resilience after the shooting at his rally in Pennsylvania.

The former president is expected to give his nomination acceptance speech Thursday. while Vance is expected to take the stage on Wednesday night.
