MILWAUKEE — The already ecstatic gathering at the Republican National Convention was only heightened Monday when a federal judge in Florida tossed out the classified documents case against former President Donald Trump.

Paul Benjamin, a minister and alternate delegate from North Carolina, said the courtroom win for Mr. Trump was heaven-sent.

“I was headed to the GOP gathering this morning when I saw my news alert. I said, ‘Another victory,’” he said. “It’s an answer to a lot of prayers.”

One of those prayers, he said, was Psalms 7, which tells of “the enemy coming against you and God turning that around. Those are the kind of prayers we are praying on President Trump.”

Mr. Benjamin described the recent events, including surviving an assassin’s bullet, as auspicious for a November win.

“We knew the attack was going to happen Saturday,” he said. “We knew that was coming. So it is just a sign of God’s hand on this election and turning America around and healing the hearts in America.”
