Former President Donald Trump’s campaign says the Republican National Convention will go on as scheduled following an assassination attempt on him Saturday.
“President Trump looks forward to joining you all in Milwaukee as we proceed with our convention to nominate him to serve as the 47th President of the United States,” Trump campaign senior advisors and RNC leaders said in a statement. “As our party’s nominee, President Trump will continue to share his vision to Make America Great Again.”

Security was already a top concern for party officials heading into the Republican National Convention, which begins Monday in Milwaukee.
The shooting at the Trump rally in Pennsylvania underscored the concerns over possible threats and the reasons for the high levels of concern.
The Trump campaign reiterated that the presumptive GOP presidential nominee is doing well, despite being shot in the ear, and that he is grateful for the response from law enforcement officials who killed the gunman.
Mr. Trump in a previous statement expressed his condolences for a rally attendee who was killed and two others who were critically injured, and said a bullet pierced the upper part of his right ear.
“It is incredible that such an act can take place in our country,” he said on social media.
