Former first lady Melania Trump is expected to appear next week at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin , according to a report.
Mrs. Trump will be at the convention, where her husband, former President Donald Trump is expected to accept the GOP presidential nomination, sources familiar with the situation told the Associated Press.
The GOP confab is scheduled to run from Monday through Thursday, and would be one of Mrs. Trump’s first public appearances in many months supporting her husband’s campaign.
She delivered remarks at the 2016 GOP convention, where detractors accused her of using a speech that seemed similar to one delivered previously by former first lady Michelle Obama.
Mrs. Trump, 54, gave another speech during the 2020 GOP convention.
The former first lady has largely been away from the campaign trail this cycle, but appeared during key events with Mr. Trump such as his Super Tuesday victory party and his 78th birthday party in June.
Mr. Trump has said his wife is a “private” person who avoids the spotlight but tolerates it for his sake.
“You know, a lot of first ladies would go out — they want to be everywhere. They get angry at their husband, because he’s not introducing them,” he said at a Fox News town hall in February. “If I didn’t introduce Melania, she’d be very happy about it. She’s just a different kind of a person.”
