D.C. police said Friday a 4-month-old girl was found safe in Southeast after thieves had stolen the car with the baby in it in Georgetown.

Darnel Robinson, the assistant chief of Metropolitan Police’s Patrol Services North, said the child was found outside a home in the 1500 block of 28th Street SE around 7 p.m. Friday.

That came roughly an hour after the white Jeep had been stolen while idling in the 3000 block of M Street NW.

Residents at the Southeast home told NBC affiliate WRC-TV that they heard a knock on the door. When they went to open it, they found the infant girl there in a pink snowsuit.

The baby was unharmed and returned to her mother.

Police said they haven’t found the stolen Jeep, which is missing its gas cap.
