A tour bus traveling from Montreal crashed in upstate New York Friday, killing one person and sending 11 others to the hospital with injuries.
The Skyway Coach Lines bus rolled over and crashed on Interstate 87 between Lake George and Warrensburg at 12:50 p.m., New York State Police said in a release, with 23 people aboard, including the bus driver. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
One passenger died, one was hospitalized in serious condition and 10 others were transported with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The driver was hurt and survived, vehicle operator FlixBus told ABC News.
“At all times, the safety of passengers and drivers is of the highest importance to FlixBus. FlixBus is deeply shocked about what happened and sends its deepest condolences to the victims’ relatives and friends,” FlixBus said in a statement.
The people aboard were mainly Canadian, with some Swiss, looking to catch flights out of New York City Friday night, Warren County Administrator John Taflan said, according to Albany’s Times Union newspaper.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul wrote on X, “I join New Yorkers in praying for all involved in this horrific incident & am grateful for the heroic efforts of our first responders.”
