Nikki Haley says President Biden and former President Donald Trump are two peas in a pod when it comes to questions about their age and mental decline.

Ms. Haley has sharpened her attacks against Mr. Trump following her second-place finish behind him in New Hampshire’s first-in-the-nation primary, looking to cut him down to size ahead of her home state South Carolina primary next month.

“He is not what he was in 2016. He has declined,” she said Tuesday of Mr. Trump on “CBS Mornings.” “That is a fact.”

The Republican presidential candidate has her work cut out for her in trying to pull off a come-from-behind win against Mr. Trump, the front-runner for the GOP nomination.

Ms. Haley has been warning that he alienated too many moderate voters to win a general election race and highlighting his verbal tics and confusing statements as a way to shine a light on his age.

Mr. Trump is 77, Mr. Biden is 81 and Ms. Haley is 52.

“Are we really in this country going to have two 80-year-olds running for president?” Ms. Haley said. “It is a fact that when you are their age you have mental decline. I don’t care who you are.”

“The party that puts a new generational leader in is the party that will win,” she said.
