California Gov. Gavin Newsom said President Biden’s “extraordinary successes” need to be broadcast more ahead of the 2024 election.

“We need to lift up the issues, the successes — the extraordinary successes of the last three years, the Biden-Harris administration, and then we drive contrast,” the Democratic governor said on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday.

“It’s not even a complicated campaign. We have the receipts,” Mr. Newsom said. “We have the best three-year record of any modern American presidency, period, full stop.”

Mr. Newsom has been a consistent backer of the 81-year-old Mr. Biden, although he has also been questioned whether he would jump into the race to replace him if necessary.

When asked about Mr. Biden’s low approval ratings, Mr. Newsom chalked it up to how tough the last few years have been.

“Look, it’s been hard, globally, the last six, seven years. But, again, America stands tall with a tent pole, the world economy, no peers economically, again, a master class of delivery,” he said. “The economy is booming. Inflation is cooling. And of course, the economic strategy, as this president’s put together, were all things Republicans dreamt of, but never delivered. He’s delivered.”

According to RealClearPolitics averages of approval rating polls, Mr. Biden’s approval rating sits at roughly 40%, with about 56.5% saying they disapprove.

Mr. Newsom has said he will not run in 2024, but has not said anything about running in 2028.

Mr. Biden is confronting a likely rematch with former President Donald Trump, who is the frontrunner for the GOP nomination.
