Former President Donald Trump ranted about those involved in his New York civil fraud case in multiple social media posts Sunday as he awaits the verdict on how much he owes and whether he can continue to do business in New York.
In posts on Truth Social, he repeated his claim that the case was a “witch hunt,” that he did “nothing wrong” and that his company made “only success and profits.”
He called the state’s closing argument “pathetic,” state Attorney General Letitia James “corrupt” and state Judge Arthur Engoron “badly influenced.”
“Hopefully, Judge Engoron, who should have never taken this NON JURY Trial, or should have dismissed it long ago, will show that the New York State Judicial System is ALIVE, RESPECTED, AND WELL. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!” he posted.
The former president defended his company, and referred to his “100% Disclaimer and Non-reliance Clause, stating CLEARLY that the reader must do their own analysis and due-diligence.”
“It is a great company that has been slandered and maligned by this politically motivated Witch Hunt. It is very unfair, and I call for help from the highest Courts in New York State, or the Federal System, to intercede. THIS IS NOT AMERICA,” he said in one post calling on the federal courts to get involved.
Judge Engoron has already found Mr. Trump, his adult sons, Eric and Don Jr., and other defendants guilty for fraudulently increasing the value of properties including Mar-a-Lago in Florida, the former president’s Fifth Avenue apartment, 40 Wall Street, Trump Park Avenue, golf courses and an upstate New York estate.
Closing arguments in the case ended Thursday, and all that’s left is for Judge Engoron to decide on the damages, if any.
The attorney general has requested roughly $370 million, an increase from the original $250 million, and for Mr. Trump to not be allowed to do any more real estate business in New York.
