An Amish family in Sturgis, Michigan, was left without a ride last weekend after their horse and buggy were stolen from a Walmart parking lot.

The family exited Walmart and saw the buggy was missing at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday, the Sturgis Department of Public Safety said in a Facebook post.

A truck driver in the parking lot told police he saw a woman steal the vehicle. Police also had contact with the unnamed suspect earlier that day at the Walmart.

A police officer found the unoccupied buggy and the horse later that evening, and police arrested the 31-year-old female suspect, also unnamed by authorities, without any further incident.

She was sent to the St. Joseph County Jail and has been charged with one count each of larceny and larceny of livestock, police said.

The horse was unharmed, and the buggy was returned to its owners.
