OPINION:
Nikki Haley recently enlightened us with the “fact” that Donald Trump and some of us other seniors are too old to function properly (“Trump defeats Haley in New Hampshire to sweep first two nominating contests,” web, Jan. 22).
It reminded me of what Ronald Reagan said during a 1984 debate with Walter Mondale. Asked whether he was too old to be president, Reagan replied: “I will not make age an issue of this campaign. I am not going to exploit, for political purposes, my opponent’s youth and inexperience.”
Perhaps Mr. Trump should question Ms. Haley’s “youth and inexperience.”
When Mr. Trump was in office, he made it clear that the U.S. is our country, so we decide who comes in and out of it. That means we will guard our borders. He intends to do so, and I believe he’s ready.
Mr. Trump is healthy and ready to work. He deserves another four years. He should campaign not only for himself but also for Republican candidates for Congress, where he will need a strong Republican majority in order to get anything done.
