Tech billionaire Elon Musk called diversity, equity and inclusion policies “fundamentally antisemitic” on Monday after his trip to the Auschwitz concentration camp.

Mr. Musk shared his opinion in an interview with conservative commentator Ben Shapiro at the European Jewish Association’s conference in Poland.

“The diversity and equity inclusion — we should always be … wary of any name that sounds like it could come out of a George Orwell book,” Mr. Musk said. “What it really means is discrimination on the basis of race, sex, sexual orientation, and it’s against merit, and this I think is fundamentally antisemitic.”

He has joined the chorus of conservative voices calling for the end of DEI policies. He said it’s the “definition of racism” and implied that the difficulties that airlines are facing over faulty parts is due to DEI.

Mr. Musk’s trip to the Nazi death camp comes after he was accused of promoting antisemitism on X in November. The platform’s owner called a post parroting a conspiracy theory that American Jews support illegal immigration “absolute truth.”

During his conversation with Mr. Shapiro, Mr. Musk claimed that X has less antisemitic content than ever.

“The outside audits that we’ve done, at the ones that we’ve had done, show that there is the least amount of antisemitism on X if you look at all the other social apps,” he said.
