A major donor of Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley’s campaign said his continued support is based on how she performs in New Hampshire primary next week.

Home Depot co-founder Ken Langone, who endorsed the former South Carolina governor last month, told the Financial Times that if “she doesn’t get traction in New Hampshire, you don’t throw money down a rathole.”

He told the outlet he is ready to give her “a nice sum of money” if she does well.

Mr. Langone admitted that he thinks the two candidates who are going to make it to November’s general election are President Biden and former President Donald Trump. Ms. Haley’s campaign has focused heavily on New Hampshire and its sizable contingent of more independent voters in a bid to slow the momentum of Mr. Trump for the GOP nomination.

Mr. Langone said he was rooting for Ms. Haley because Mr. Trump “showed that from Election Day 2020 to Jan. 6, his whole focus, in my opinion, was himself — not what was good for the country.”

“We’re going to need a very competent manager, as well as a president-statesman,” he told the Financial Times. “I am supporting Nikki Haley because I think she comes [as] close to what you could hope for as anybody out there.”

The former U.N. Ambassador finished in third in the Iowa caucus behind Mr. Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. Polls show her performing better in New Hampshire, less than a week away from the primary. She is also doing better in her home state of South Carolina.
