JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon told Democrats to “grow up” and “listen” to some supporters of Donald Trump because the former president “wasn’t wrong” about some issues.

The banking executive criticized how Democrats talk about Make America Great Again supporters.

“When people say MAGA, they’re actually looking at people voting for Trump … they’re basically scapegoating them, that you are like him, but I don’t think they’re voting for Trump because of his family values,” Mr. Dimon said Wednesday on CNBC.

He said if people would just “be honest,” Mr. Trump was “kind of right about NATO. Kind of right about immigration. He grew the economy quite well.Tax reform worked. He was right about some with China.”

Mr. Dimon said he didn’t like how the former president talked about Mexico, but “he wasn’t wrong about some of these critical issues.”

Criticizing MAGA has long been a campaign strategy of Democrats, including President Biden.

Mr. Dimon said it’s time to start being “a little more respectful of our fellow citizens.”

“I mean, really? Can we stop that stuff and actually grow up and treat other people respectfully and listen to them a little bit?” he said.

He also noted that he thinks the negative MAGA discourse will hurt Mr. Biden’s election campaign.

Mr. Trump remains the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination. He won the Iowa caucuses on Monday and leads in polls in other states.
