From the rise of the “nones” — the religiously unaffiliated — to the noticeably emptied church pews on Sundays, America’s growing secularism raises an interesting question: Is Christianity still relevant in modern day?

Of course it is.

But the problem is the messaging.

Too many church leaders aren’t willing to talk about the tough issues that impact real people — that impact sin-filled people.

Abuse, abortion, addictions, politics — these are all too frequently off-limits to Christian community discussion.

Or, as pastor and author Mike Novotny might say: They’re taboo.

In his new book, aptly named “Taboo: Topics Christians Should Be Talking About But Don’t,” Novotny breaks down the ways Christians might approach some of the more difficult situations life brings, without alienating believers and would-be believers.

It’s a fascinating talk. Tune in! And don’t forget to subscribe to Bold & Blunt.
