Police in Nebraska said they arrested a man Sunday who is accused of commandeering a skid loader and ramming it into vehicles — including a police cruiser.

Lincoln police said they charged Samuel Peyrot, 36, of Lincoln, with assault, assault on an officer and criminal mischief after he was arrested at gunpoint in the parking lot of a Home Depot.

Authorities said Mr. Peyrot got behind the wheel of his employer’s skid loader and began crashing into vehicles outside of a convenience store.

The suspect then drove to a nearby Home Depot where he continued to ram into vehicles.

Video taken of the incident showed a Lincoln police SUV trying to box in the skid loader, but that’s when the suspect lowered the vehicle’s bucket and drove right into the cruiser.

After the crash, police said the officer got out of the SUV and drew his gun. Mr. Peyrot surrendered to authorities at that point.

One of the drivers Mr. Peyrot is accused of striking suffered minor injuries, according to police

The suspect is being held in the Lancaster County jail.
