A high-profile member of Donald Trump’s New York legal team will no longer represent the former president.

Joe Tacopina confirmed Monday that he was withdrawing from Mr. Trump’s cases, but he did not say why, or whether it was a resignation or a firing.

“I withdrew on all matters,” he told ABC News.

A notice of Mr. Tacopina’s departure was filed with a federal criminal court in Manhattan, where Mr. Trump faces charges of hiding a hush-money payoff to a porn star by falsifying business records.

Mr. Tacopina also will no longer present Mr. Trump in an unrelated case — the appeal of a $5 million civil-damages verdict in E. Jean Carroll defamation and sex-abuse lawsuit.

Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung issued a statement to multiple news outlets but it did not directly address Mr. Tacopina’s departure.

“President Trump has the most experienced, qualified, disciplined, and overall strongest legal team ever assembled as he continues to fight for America and Americans against these partisan, Crooked Joe Biden-led election interference hoaxes,” he said.
