INDIANOLA, Iowa — Gov. Doug Burgum of North Dakota endorsed former President Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential bid a day before the Iowa caucuses.

“America needs a 180-degree change from where Joe Biden is taking us,” Mr. Burgum said after taking the stage with his wife here at Mr. Trump’s final pre-caucus rally at Simpson College.

“You have the opportunity to send a message to the nation and the world that Donald J Trump will make America great again.”

Mr. Burgum was a long-shot GOP candidate for president. He ended his bid early last month after he failed to qualify for debates and gain any momentum in the race.

Mr. Trump has been lingering around 50% in the polls and hoping a strong showing here could add to the sense that he cannot be stopped in the nomination race.
