A New York City police detective was charged with shoplifting on Long Island over the weekend, according to authorities.

Suffolk County police said they arrested Christina Cancel, 54, after she was accused of stealing $160 worth of merchandise at a Home Depot on Saturday.

She faces charges of petty larceny and false impersonation after police said she gave officers the wrong name and date of birth once apprehended.

The NYPD suspended Ms. Cancel without pay a few hours after she was accused of the crimes.

Ms. Cancel is a detective specialist for the office of Police Commissioner Edward Caban.

City payroll records show that she made over $150,000 on the job last year.

The New York Daily News reported that Ms. Cancel was charged in 2015 with searching the NYPD database for personal reasons and failing to report an off-duty crisis that required a police response.

She lost 10 vacation days after being found guilty in the incidents.

She is scheduled to be arraigned on Jan. 26.
