Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley sought to one up her GOP opponents Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump when it comes to being pro-life during Wednesday night’s presidential primary debate.

“I am unapologetically pro-life — not because the Republican Party tells me to be but because my husband is adopted, and I’ve got my two sweet children sitting in front of me, and I had trouble having both of them,” the former U.N. ambassador said.

“These fellas don’t know how to talk about abortion,” she said.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who shared the debate stage with Ms. Haley, also flexed his pro-life credentials while suggesting the Republican Party can improve on government support once a child is born.

“You got to be pro-life for the whole life,” he said.

Mr. DeSantis also accused Ms. Haley of promoting a left-wing “trope” by suggesting some in the party want to “throw women in jail” for having an abortion.

Mrs. Haley said such people exist.

“You keep saying, ‘where’s anybody talking about putting a woman in jail or giving her the death penalty?’ South Carolina,” the former South Carolina governor said. “There’s legislation right now that would put a woman in jail if she got an abortion.”
