Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg touted his new Hawaiian ranch this week in a post that drew many reactions.

On his company’s Instagram, Mr. Zuckerberg promoted his Ko’olau Ranch on the island of Kauai.

“My goal is to create some of the highest quality beef in the world,” he wrote Tuesday. “The cattle are Wagyu and Angus, and they’ll grow up eating macadamia meal and drinking beer that we grow and produce here on the ranch. We want the whole process to be local and vertically integrated.”

The tech billionaire went on to say the ranch is in the early stages and it’s a family project, with his daughters planting many of the macadamia trees on the property.

The project seems to fall in line with Mr. Zuckerberg’s efforts to promote healthy and self-sufficient lifestyle choices.

Some praised Mr. Zuckerberg’s decision to start the ranch, saying it will likely produce high-quality beef and be a great place to raise a family.

However, some found the announcement inconsiderate of those unable to afford necessities.

A smaller number of users resorted to conspiracy theories, implying that Mr. Zuckerberg built the ranch to stockpile meat in case the United Nations forces people to eat insects.

“Who will eat ARTIFICIAL MEAT and insects then I wonder,” one X user wrote.

The largest group criticizing Mr. Zuckerberg were climate activists pointing out that cattle ranches require large resources and produce significant amounts of greenhouse gases.
