DES MOINES, Iowa — Former President Donald Trump warned voters Wednesday not to buy into the warnings that he will usher in four more years of “chaos” and “bedlam” if he wins back the White House.

Mr. Trump said President Biden is the real agent of madness.

“They have chaos now. They have chaos at the border. They have chaos in the military. People are going woke,” Mr. Trump said in response to a question from a voter at a Fox News town hall event here. “Today you have chaos. We have a lot more with Joe Biden. He can’t put two sentences together.

“They use that narrative because they have nothing else,” he said.

Mr. Trump said that contrasts with his four years in office when the economy was roaring, energy prices were down, the border was secure and inflation had yet to take off.

Mr. Trump said the chaos on his watch was driven by Democrats leveling phony attacks against him that polarized the nation.

“I think we had very little chaos,” he said. “I thought we had tremendous success.”

Mr. Trump skipped the chance to participate in a CNN debate with his chief rivals Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida and former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley.
