Former President Donald Trump started the new year by defending his conduct after the 2020 election and bashing the criminal case brought by special counsel Jack Smith.
It was part of a tirade that spanned three posts on Truth Social in which he delved into his claim of presidential immunity and railed against corrupted elections.
Mr. Trump said that he did “nothing wrong” after the 2020 election and that he was “bringing to light the fact that the Election was, without question, Rigged and Stolen.”
“As President and Commander-in-Chief, it was my duty to do so!” he wrote. “If I did not do this, I would have been in violation of my Oath of Office.”
He is currently facing two criminal prosecutions alleging election interference — a federal case in Washington and a state case in Georgia.
“We cannot let our Elections ever be CORRUPTED again,” he said. “Many Democrats challenged 2016 and nothing was done to them. Biden had me Indicted!”
He called out President Biden for alleged “crimes” in a lengthy post.
“REMEMBER, if I don’t have Presidential Immunity, then Crooked Joe Biden doesn’t have it either, and he would certainly be Prosecuted for his many ACTUAL CRIMES.”
Mr. Trump listed the president’s alleged crimes as “receiving massive amounts of money from foreign countries, including China, Ukraine, and Russia” through his potential involvement with his son Hunter Biden’s foreign business deals.
Other “crimes” listed by Mr. Trump included Mr. Biden’s “surrendering in Afghanistan,” letting in millions of illegal immigrants to “destroy our country,” and the “decimation of American wealth through the Green New Scam.”
“REMEMBER, Crooked Joe Biden and his CORRUPT JUSTICE DEPARTMENT, D.A.’S AND A.G.’S, has attacked his Political Opponent at a level never seen before in this Country, and wants desperately to PUT “TRUMP” IN PRISON,” he wrote. “He is playing a very dangerous game, and the great people of America WILL NOT STAND FOR IT. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.”
