Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley said the special counsel report on President Biden’s willful mishandling of classified government documents was “unbelievably disturbing” because it showcased the commander in chief’s memory loss.
“They see him as diminished. That they see that — it’s a problem, and they point-blank say that,” Ms. Haley said on Fox News’ “Hannity.”
The former South Carolina governor called the situation “actually dangerous”
“Look, people make fun of the fact that I say we need to have mental competency tests. There’s a reason 70% of Americans don’t want to see a Biden-Trump rematch,” she said. “The party that gets rid of their 80-year-old candidate is going to be the party that wins.”
Special counsel Robert Hur’s report, which was made public Thursday, said no charges would be brought against the president for his mishandling of classified documents because Mr. Biden’s memory appeared diminished, including his having a hard time recalling when he was vice president or when his son, Beau Biden, died.
Mr. Hur said Mr. Biden’s “memory was significantly limited.”
“It would be difficult to convince a jury that they should convict him — by then a former president well into his eighties — of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness,” the report said.
Mr. Biden shot back at at a hastily arranged press conference a the White House.
“I know what the hell I’m doing. I’m the president and I put this country back on its feet. I don’t need his recommendation,” the president told a combative press corps.
“My memory is fine. Take a look at what I’ve done since I’ve become president. None of you thought I could pass any of the things I got passed. How did that happen? I guess I just forgot what was going on,” he said.
However, Mr. Biden then mixed up the presidents of Mexico and Egypt.
