Former President Donald Trump is fundraising off of Supreme Court arguments in a case that considers whether he led an insurrection and should be kicked off the ballot.

An email pitch blasted out to supporters Thursday said it is “the greatest legal challenge we’ve ever faced.”

“Democrats have removed me from the ballot, but I know with your support right now, we will be full steam ahead for November,” the email says, using all caps at times for emphasis.

The justices are hearing oral arguments over the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision to boot Mr. Trump from the ballot because of a provision in the 14th Amendment that disqualifies insurrectionists from holding federal offices.

Maine’s secretary of state cited the provision in unilaterally removing Mr. Trump from the ballot, while courts in other states have struck down attempts to boot Mr. Trump.

Supporters of the effort allege that Mr. Trump led an insurrection by attempting to overturn the 2020 election results.

Mr. Trump rallied supporters in Washington before they walked to the U.S. Capitol and broke into the building on Jan. 6, 2021, after the certification process had begun.

Mr. Trump also leaned on Vice President Mike Pence to send the electoral vote-counting process back to the states instead of certifying the votes.

Congressional Republicans say that Mr. Trump did not lead an insurrection and that Democrats are desperately trying to rob voters of their say in November, fearing the ex-president will beat President Biden and return to the White House.

With a conservative majority on the Supreme Court, the case for removing Mr. Trump from ballots is viewed as a long shot.

“Arguments have already begun. So at this very moment, I’m calling on EVERY pro-Trump patriot to chip in and proudly say: KEEP PRESIDENT TRUMP ON MY BALLOT!” the Trump campaign said in its email.

Mr. Trump faces a series of civil and criminal cases even as he campaigns as the front-runner for the GOP presidential nomination.

He isn’t letting the spotlight go to waste, using courtroom appearances to repeat his attacks on Mr. Biden and accuse Democrats of waging a legal witch hunt to thwart his political ambitions.
