On Feb. 12, 2014, in a little-remembered bid to secure the GOP nomination for New York governor, Donald Trump addressed the Republican Party of New York with this opening line: “If you elect me as governor, I’ll cut your taxes in half and make New York the energy capital of the world.”

When I heard this, I instantly thought it would make the perfect presidential campaign platform for Mr. Trump. Indeed, he used it 16 months later.

Mr. Trump recently said he would ramp up America’s energy production to pay for future Social Security benefits and prevent cuts to the program. I think this is a fantastic idea. Given the state of the country, we need a policy that maximizes our wealth to better our standard of living and make us more financially solvent.

Another great campaign idea he should employ is what I call the “Survive ’Til ’25” campaign pivot. If he were to promote this phrase, I believe it would catch fire with his devoted base and raise him billions of dollars for the campaign and his mounting legal fees.
