President Biden on Monday will host King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of Jordan at the White House to discuss the situation in Gaza and ways to craft a long-lasting resolution to the tensions between Israel and Palestinians, according to the White House.
The visit will mark 75 years of diplomatic relations between the U.S. and Jordan, though Israel’s military operation in Gaza in response to Hamas’s Oct. 7 terror raids looms in the background.
Jordan shares a border with Israel.
The leaders will “discuss the ongoing situation in Gaza and efforts to produce an enduring end to the crisis,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said. “Towards that end, the two leaders will discuss U.S. effort to support the Palestinian people including through enhanced humanitarian assistance into Gaza and a vision for a durable peace to include a two-state solution with Israel’s security guaranteed.”
The king will be joined by his wife, Queen Rania Al Abdullah.
