Sen. Elizabeth Warren channeled her inner Taylor Swift as she responded to questions about an anti-Trump political conspiracy involving the pop star and the Super Bowl.
Ms. Warren, appearing on CBS’ “The Late Show” Monday, was asked by host Stephen Colbert about Ms. Swift’s two big wins at the Grammys.
“Was that phase one of the Democrats’ deep-state plan?” Mr. Colbert asked.
“You bet. You bet,” the Massachusetts Democrats said.
“All I can say to Donald Trump is: Haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate,” the lawmaker sang, using lyrics from the singer’s “Shake it Off” song.
Ms. Swift has recently gained even more exposure than usual for her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Some Republicans have come up with conspiracy theories that involve the Super Bowl between the Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers being rigged for the Chiefs to win, which would lead up to Ms. Swift endorsing President Biden for reelection.
Reports have revealed that Mr. Biden’s reelection campaign is attempting to recruit the pop star to endorse him like she did in 2020.
Meanwhile, some of those working closely with former President Donald Trump call it a “holy war” against Ms. Swift, especially if she does endorse the president, according to Rolling Stone.
The former president reportedly claimed that he was “more popular” than Ms. Swift, those close to him told Rolling Stone. He said his fans are stronger than hers, and he questioned why she was Time’s Person of the Year over him.
Other conservatives have questioned why the singer is involved in politics at all.
