Former President Donald Trump hinted Sunday that two prominent Republicans are on his shortlist for vice-presidential running mates.
The GOP front-runner suggested that Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina, a former candidate for the Republican nomination, and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem are in contention when asked during an interview on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo.”
“I watched [Mr. Scott] in the last week defending me and sticking up for me and fighting for me, I said, ‘Man, you’re a much better person for me than you are for yourself,’” Mr. Trump said.
Mr. Scott endorsed Mr. Trump.
“Kristi Noem has been incredible fighting for me. She said, ‘I’d never run against him because I can’t beat him.’ That was a very nice thing to say,” Mr. Trump said.
He added that he doesn’t plan to announce a running mate in the near future.
“Not for a while. We have so many great people in the Republican Party,” Mr. Trump said. “I have a lot of good ideas … I speak to everybody.”
