Sen. John Fetterman called out Democrats who publicly criticize President Biden Thursday, telling them to get their “MAGA hat.”
“I don’t understand why,” Mr. Fetterman said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” of those who criticize the president. “I don’t know what’s in it for you to do that, whether you’re just chasing clout or want to make it into the news or anything like that. But if you’re not willing to just support the president, and say these kinds of things, you might as well just get your MAGA hat because you now are helping Trump.”
He didn’t name names, but pointed out how he doesn’t understand why Democrats would criticize the president “too publicly.”
The Pennsylvania Democrat said he believes Mr. Biden will win his state, and that he believes “that whoever wins Pennsylvania is going to be the next president.”
Mr. Biden won the state in 2020 by less than 2%, but former President Donald Trump won the state in 2016 by an even smaller margin.
“This is going to be difficult and we all have to lean in on that,” Mr. Fetterman said.
Mr. Biden has seen criticism from people in his party over his support for Israel and their attack on Gaza, and his age.
