Republicans are using outrage among voters over the southern border as a cudgel against Sen. Jon Tester’s reelection push in Montana.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee released a new “Two-Face” ad Tuesday saying Mr. Tester, one of the most vulnerable Democrats up for reelection in November, “talks tough on the border,” but his support for President Biden and his voting record paint a different picture.
“Tester said Biden is securing the border,” the narrator says in the ad, which features old video clips of the Democrat praising Mr. Biden’s approach to the border, embracing a path to citizenship for some illegal immigrants, and voicing opposition to building more border wall.
“Tell Two-Face Tester — secure the border now.”
Mr. Tester split with the rest of the Montana delegation — including Sen. Steve Daines, chairman of the GOP’s Senate campaign arm — on a recent bipartisan measure that failed to secure enough support because of its amnesty and allowing at least 4,000 illegals into the country daily.
