GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley raised alarm Sunday over the Republican National Committee buoying her competitor’s legal fees and the push for former President Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law to be named co-chair.
Lara Trump recently vowed that, if put in the position, she would ensure that “every single penny will go to the number one and the only job of the RNC, that is electing” Mr. Trump.
“It should be a wake-up call for Republicans all over this country,,” Ms. Haley said on ABC’s “This Week.”
“We saw in his campaign reports that he used $50 million of campaign contributions to pay for his personal court cases. Then he tried to get the RNC to name him the presumptive nominee. We don’t anoint kings in America,” she said.
Ms. Haley, former U.N. ambassador under Mr. Trump, has long accused the RNC of being biased toward the former president as he dominates the Republican primary.
“He’s trying to control the RNC by putting his daughter-in-law as the co-chair and putting his campaign manager as the director of operations,” Ms. Haley said. “You can hang up winning the House and the Senate, or having any resources for us to win any other races if all they’re doing is thinking about how they’re going to pay his court fees.”
